Javier Barrios of Good Energy addressed concerns from residents of Bethalto and the Village Board yesterday as the municipality continues moving toward energy aggregation. Following two hearings, the board unanimously passed two resolutions that will allow Good Energy to design a plan of operational governance and to then receive and accept a bid for the price of electricity for the village.
Village Trustee Bob DiPaolo says that he can sees two ways the residents benefit from aggregation.
DiPaolo also said that he saw this decision as a “no-brainer” for most residents and that he doesn’t expect many to opt out unless it just doesn’t make sense for them to participate. Good Energy estimates that residents should save between 20-25 percent on their bills once the switch is made in early August.
