It’s been thirteen years since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.  Nearly 3,000 people died that day.  The New York City Fire Department lost 340 men and women, while their police counterparts lost 23 officers.  A group of local high school students will be remembering those that were lost with a special ceremony in Bethalto.

Sierra Jennings, Junior at Civic Memorial High School, says they will be decorating the campus in a patriotic way.

She says the flags will be placed this evening, and the posters will be placed around the campus on September 11th, followed by a ceremony in which local first responders will be invited.
