A local lawmaker is taking what he calls a “common sense approach” to improving conceal carry laws in Illinois. State Representative Dan Beiser (D-Alton) is sponsoring a number of measures that he says would improve the way the law is applied to law-abiding citizens in Illinois.

Beiser tells The Big Z that passing concealed carry in 2013 was just the starting point.

Beiser says the existing restrictions are not preventing criminals from gaining access to firearms, but that they do place burdensome barriers between trained individuals an their right to protect and defend themselves. He is also calling for the removal of the waiting period required to receive a concealed carry license after purchasing a firearm.
