The incidence of heart disease and strokes is increasing in the U.S. and there is a new initiative to try and combat the two killers. Aside from the obvious advice of not using tobacco, lifestyle changes can include improving your diet. A heart health fair is planned for later this month in Alton that will help you look at making those lifestyle changes.
It's being hosted by State Representative Dan Beiser (D-Alton), Well Care Health Plans and the American Heart Association. Beiser says it will be held at the Alton Salvation Army on Alby Street on February 27.
