State Representative Dan Beiser of Alton is looking at the upcoming Fall Veto Session as an opportunity to pass the gambling expansion bill that fell to the governor's pen earlier this year. Quinn doesn't want to see slot machines in Chicago airports and horse racing tracks, but Beiser says he and the rest of the General Assembly passed a bill in the spring that he believes to be fair.
Beiser, the Alton Democrat, says the plan would be good not only for the state, but for the local economy too.
As for pension reform, he thinks talks will begin during the veto session, and continue through December. But, he feels the legitimate movement on legislation won't happen until the House and Senate return in early January. The Fall Veto Session runs November 27-29 and December 4-6.
