A local lawmaker is taking what he calls a “common sense approach” to easing the strain on middle class families. State Representative Dan Beiser (D-Alton) has co-sponsored House Bill 3210, which would reduce the sales tax on diapers and baby wipes.  Beiser tells The Big Z this could make a big difference for many families.

Under the bill, the state sales tax rate on baby wipes and diapers would be lowered from 6.25 percent to 1 percent. Besier says this measure would tax these products the same as an other basic necessities including food, pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
