Be careful with Christmas decorations this year. The state's Fire Marshall says there were nearly 30 fires associated with Christmas décor last year. Electrical failures and lighting malfunctions account for a third of the fires. Officials say you should never connect more than three strands of mini-string sets. Replace any string of lights with worn or broken cords or loose bulbs.
Be sure to turn off the lights on the Christmas tree before going to bed. And you should always make sure your tree isn't blocking an exit, and make sure it's at least three feet from candles, fireplaces, and heaters.
