A man who is a combination baker, theater teacher, television star and Benedictine monk is coming to Godfrey this weekend. Father Dominic Garramone from Saint Bede Abbey in Peru will be hosting a baking event this Sunday afternoon at the Godfrey Knights of Columbus Hall at 1:30. It is a presentation called Sweet Braids and Coffeecakes.
A man of many talents, Fr. Dominic may be best known due to his short-lived television show "Breaking Bread with Father Dominic," which ran from 1999 to 2001 on Channel 9, according to Marcia Wheeler manage of the KC Hall.
Fr. Dominic will share his passion for making bread through his stories and recipes. By the end of the program, Wheeler says guests will appreciate how the actual making of bread can bring together families and friends, the role bread plays in many cultures prevalent to America, and how bread connects us as a society. Doors open Sunday at 12:45. To purchase tickets in advance, call the Knights of Columbus Hall at 466-9889, or Wheeler at 567-9257.
