If you want to work part-time for the City of Wood River, you will soon have to go through a background check before you are hired. The idea was discussed in the pre-meeting before last night's city council meeting, so it will not officially come to the council until the June 17 meeting. Mayor Fred Ufert says they already do background checks on full-time employees, but only a few part-timers.
The council also approved a sanitary sewer extension for the property that Jack Schmitt Chevrolet purchased on Edwardsville Road. The dealership closed on the property within the last week, but a date to break ground on the project has not been set. Approval was also given to the Park & Recreation Department to hold the Bike Ramble on June 21.
