Now that a freight study and plan has been unveiled to the public, drawing more big business to the region using that information as a selling point should follow. That is the goal of members of the East-West Gateway Council of Government, which unveiled the study earlier this week.
Frank Miles, Director of Madison County Community and Economic Development, tells The Big Z that many multinational companies already realize the diverse methods of shipping their products that is available in the Metro East, and especially Madison County.

He says while the county views itself as a team player in the regional economy, there is a desire to show business interests the benefits of locating on this side of the river as opposed to St. Louis. Freight shipments are expected to grow by about 60% over the next few years, according to Miles.
