The Atrium Hotel Alton will reopen its kitchen today. This comes after a series of steps to rid the hotel of a fly infestation that caused a number of events to be cancelled over the last month or so. It is the first of what is expected to be many steps to fix the issues that have recently plagued the hotel.
Brett Stawar, president of the Alton Regional Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, tells The Big Z the kitchen is reopening just in time for the Southern Illinois Lions’ conference.

Stawar says rebuilding community relationships will be a part of the process for the new owners as they make upgrades to the facility. He cautions this could be a lengthy process to complete renovations and regain Holiday Inn or similar branding.
