The death toll from the blistering heatwave has risen again. Twelve people across the metro area have now succumbed to the high temperatures. The latest victims are a 93-year-old woman in University City, and a 56-year-old Collinsville man.
Both had working air conditioners, but the man's was turned off, and the elderly woman's was set to 95 degrees. Health and emergency officials remind residents to check on family and friends to make sure they are running their air conditioning or help them find a place to stay cool during the heat of the day.
