The Fourth of July is this weekend and organizers are preparing for number of fireworks displays in the Riverbend. The Fireworks over the Mississippi display at the Liberty Bank Alton Amphitheater will take place on Friday, July 3rd even though the Mississippi River is creeping into Riverfront Park
Alton Convention and Visitor’s Bureau President Brett Stawar tells The Big Z that shouldn’t be an issue by Friday.

Stawar recommends arriving early for the event to ensure that you get the spot you want, especially if you plan to watch from outside the amphitheater. He also adds that there are also a number of other displays throughout the area scattered around the Fourth, but the one in Grafton has been cancelled due to the flooding, but have been rescheduled for Friday, July 24. We have listed some of the upcoming displays below:
Fireworks in Brighton at Schneider Park July 3. Festivities at 5, fireworks at dusk.
Godfrey Fireworks at Glazebrook Park. Saturday, July 4 at 9:15 p.m.
Fireworks in Jerseyville at the American Legion Fairgrounds. Saturday, July 4 at 9:20 p.m.
