Blood drives to benefit the American Red Cross are being held over the next few weeks in an attempt to keep up with the need. While donations are usually down during the winter months, it's not due to a lack of blood drives. There are a number taking place over the next couple of weeks in Madison County, including events in Moro, Godfrey and Wood River.
American Red Cross Executive Director Robin Summers says almost anyone can give blood, but just make sure you are feeling well the day you give. She says the community was generous in 2012.
There are other stipulations and guidelines, and you can contact the Red Cross for specific details. Blood drives will take place Thursday at the Meadowbrook Elementary School from 3-7pm, on February 4 at Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey from 9am-1pm, and at Lewis & Clark Elementary School in Wood River from 3:30-7:30pm on February 5.
