Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan's request of the state Supreme Court to reinstate the terrorism-threat conviction of a former SIUE student has been denied. 27-year-old Olutosin Oduwole (pictured) was arrested in 2007 after police found a note in his car threatening a murderous rampage on campus. Oduwole says the note was a draft of rap lyrics.
He was released from prison earlier this year, after an appellate court reversed his conviction finding that Oduwole had done nothing to carry out the threat. Madison County State's Attorney Tom Gibbons says in spite of the Supreme Court's decision, Oduwole will remain a convicted felon based on his 2011 guilty plea to computer fraud and theft charges.
