A Granite City man has been sentenced following his guilty plea to possession of child pornography. 38 year old James Bowen will serve a little more than 8 years in prison for the crime, the sentence for which was handed down earlier this week in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis. Bowen reportedly committed the crime in November 2010.

Following his release from prison, Bowen must serve a life-long term of supervised release and forfeit his computer equipment. Court documents say he obtained the materials over the Internet. His conviction and sentencing is the latest in a recent string of cases in federal court by the Southern Illinois Cyber Crimes Task Force.
