Ameren crews expect to have power restored to the majority of its customers by the end of the day today. At the height of the storm Friday night, more than 32,000 customers were without power. Ameren's John Barud says the focus is on restoring power in a safe and efficient manner. He says they have benefitted from the hard work of crews from near and far.
He says if you are using a generator, make sure it is installed by a professional, as an improperly installed unit can backfeed and injure their workers. Emergency response experts say you should always keep an emergency kit at home in case something happens. That would include common sense items such as food, water, and a battery powered radio.
