The Illinois Commerce Commission will be considering a rate hike for Ameren Illinois over much of the coming year.  The company has filed for a 53-million dollar rate increase to recover costs for the delivery of natural gas to its customers in central and southern Illinois.  It is also looking for money for its shareholders.

Citizen's Utility Board Spokesman Jim Chilsen tells The Big Z, while they want Ameren Illinois to be healthy and profitable, they have received about $90-million in gas rate hikes since 2008.
