The Illinois Commerce Commission has approved a rate hike for Ameren electric and natural gas delivery. The ICC voted 4-1 to approve the hike, less than what the company had requested, but a hike that will likely increase power bills in 2016.
The ICC approved a natural gas delivery increase of $44.5 million, less than the $55 million requested by the company. A rate increase of $106 million was approved for electric delivery, with Ameren asking for $110 million. The gas portion of your bill could go up about $6 per month, with the electric portion rising about $7 per month in the new year. Ameren has about 1.2 million customers in central and southern Illinois.
