An Alton resident has been recognized for his efforts volunteering in many different areas. Jim Maurer is one of more than 200 AT&T Illinois employees to receive the President’s Volunteer Service Award for his work in the local community. The award is a prestigious national honor offered by the President in recognition of sustained volunteer service.
Maurer is being recognized for volunteering more than 100 hours of service in 2012. He says he stays pretty busy as he donates his time to a number of causes.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award is issued by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, a group created by President George W. Bush, in 2003, to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers make in our nation.
