The possibility of a new connector road between Alton and Godfrey will be the topic of another meeting tonight. From 6-8pm at Lewis & Clark Community College in the Trimpe Building, representatives from the Illinois Department of Transportation will be on hand to speak to the public, updating them on progress that has come about in the past year or so. So far, only a handful of meetings have been held in the Riverbend on the subject.
An Alton-Godfrey Expressway may one day run from the Homer Adams Parkway to north of Route 255. Earlier this year Godfrey Trustee Mike Stumpf voiced his displeasure with the plan, and he is still not a fan.
Future traffic projections show there will eventually be a need for another north-south connection between U.S. 67 and Illinois 255.
