An Alton teen has died, weeks after being struck by a vehicle as he was attempting to cross College Avenue in Upper Alton. A candlelight vigil was held last night for 17-year-old Courtney Hubbard passed away on Friday. More than 100 people turned out for the gathering that was held on the parking lot of the Alton Amtrak station.
That is near the location where Hubbard was struck on August 30. He was apparently walking to a friend’s house from his home on Milton Road and was struck while trying to cross College Avenue. The motorist involved in the incident stopped and called 9-1-1. He was hospitalized and remained in a coma until he died on Friday. Hubbard was a senior at Alton High and many of his friends joined family last night for the vigil.
