It's almost time for the 41st annual Memorial Tree dedication in Alton. Normally held in the spring around Arbor Day, that plan was scrapped this year due to the excessive rains. It has been rescheduled for a week from Sunday at Gordon Moore Park.
Alton Park and Recreation's Joel Anderson says anyone can buy a tree.
He says they use a variety of trees, such as crab apple, bald cypress, white pines and oak, but have stayed away from Ash trees in recent years because of the threat from the Emerald Ash Borer.
