Alton Memorial Hospital and St. Anthony's Hospital have not received any product from the company linked with a nationwide outbreak of fungal meningitis, but two Belleville hospitals have.  Federal health officials say St. Elizabeth's and Belleville Memorial both gave patients drugs produced by the New England Compounding Company, which have been recalled after the outbreak was traced back to them.

Shelly Harkins with St. Elizabeth's Hospital says they're notifying patients as a precaution.

Harkins comments

More cases of fungal meningitis are being reported in connection with the tainted steroid medications.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says 304 cases have been reported.  No new deaths have been reported, so the death toll remains at 23.  New cases were reported in Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, Michigan, and Tennessee.
