The Alton Halloween Parade is just hours away, and will once again feature the usual floats, marching bands, and firetrucks. The East End Improvement Association continues to sponsor the event, which celebrates it's 97th edition this year. This year's Parade Marshall is long-time East End Improvement Association member and office-holder Dale Schaefer.
The parade will start at 7:30pm Broadway and Washington Avenue, moving west on Broadway, wrapping up at Piasa and 9th Streets. Parade Chairman Jim Leonard says there are no bad spots from which to take in the parade, but you need to remember to give the participants plenty of room.
The Alton parade is believed to be the oldest Halloween parade in the country, with roots dating back to 1916. You can hear live coverage of tonight's parade on Z-1570 beginning at 8:00.
