The Alton City Council made fairly quick work of Wednesday night's agenda. The tense discussion over the budget appropriation from Monday's Committee of the Whole meeting was replaces by a simple roll call vote, in which the measure passed by a 5-1 vote. Now that the resolution has been approved, it will go through the process of becoming an ordinance.
Other action saw the council approve a redevelopment agreement with Gross Realty to provide up to $25,000 in TIF money for the Bluff City Grill move to the former Alton Eagle's building on Broadway. The project is said to cost a total of about $100,000. The city also approved a portion of certain streets to be closed on Sunday, June 12 for the All-Wheels Drive-In Car Show downtown in the Third Street area. And the city gave approval to the Alton Farmers' and Artisans' Market to use the city-owned lot at the foot of Henry Street on Wednesdays and Saturdays between June 4 and October 15.
