The Alton City Council has approved the purchase of seven more Automatic External Defibrillators. The units are said to be one of the more significant advances in life-saving technology to come along in a long time. The new units will be placed at several locations around town, including the Riverfront Amphitheater and Gordon Moore Park.
Alton Fire Chief Bernie Sebold is a big fan of the technology.
He says all employees at the various facilities will be trained to use them, and the public can be trained too. For more information on AED classes, call the Alton Fire Department at 463-3565. In other city council business, the ordinance to officially permit backyard chickens made it through the next step, with first reading now completed. The second and final reading is scheduled for October 24.
