Part of the story of Denny Hastert’s “past misconduct” is now public.
Jolene Burdge is the sister of Steve Reinboldt, who told her Hastert molested him when he was a student equipment manager for the wrestling team at Yorkville High School in the late 1960s. He was under 18 at the time. He told his sister about it in 1979.
“I said, you know, was it all through high school? And he said yes. All through high school,” she said, telling her story to ABC News.

Hastert was a teacher and wrestling coach at Yorkville until entering politics in 1980.
Burdge said her brother never went public because he didn’t think anybody would believe him. He died in 1995, and Burdge confronted Hastert at the funeral home, letting him know that she knew. She said he did not respond.
It’s apparently another abuse victim to whom the former U.S. House speaker was paying millions in hush money before he allegedly ran afoul of banking laws. He is due to appear in court for the first time on Tuesday (June 9).
