The Alton Committee of the Whole met last night to approve the city’s budget and spending. When evaluating some of the spending by the police department, one of the Aldermen had some questions and opposition.
During the audit of accounts, the committee reviewed the bill from the attorney the city usually uses for negotiations but in this case was used to prosecute Captain Scott Waldrup of the Alton Police Department. Ward 6 Alderman Gary Fleming says he doesn’t support the use of funds in this case:

Labor attorney Tim Guare was the attorney used by the city in the Waldrup case following the recent internal affairs investigations alleging Waldrup knew of another officer improperly disposing of evidence. The full Alton City Council meets tomorrow night at 7:30.
