Anyone who is looking for a way to serve the community may want to check out The Great Mississippi River Clean-Up slated to take place the morning of The 9th annual Mississippi Earth Tones Festival. Both events will take place Saturday. The Clean-up is from 9am to noon while the festival will run from noon to 10pm.

The festival will take place at a new location this year on Broadway between Alton and Langdon Streets. There will be hands on informational booths, live music, and nature arts and crafts. Three Rivers Project Co-Coordinator for the Sierra Club Christine Favilla tells The Big Z what the volunteers will be doing.

She says to take part in the clean up you must have enough balance to get in and out of a boat and onto the shore and wear closed toed shoes and jeans or long pants. A total of 21 tons of trash has been removed from the Mississippi during past Earthtone Festivals. Pre-registration is required by Thursday. To pre-register visit
