SOFTBALL
IHSA PLAYOFFS --- REGIONAL SEMIFINALS
CLASS 1A
CALHOUN 6, RAMSEY 5: In the first semifinal of the White Hall North Greene regional, Calhoun scored once in the second, three times in the third, and twice in the fifth, leading 6-2 before Ramsey came back with two in the sixth and one in the seventh, but the Warriors held on to win and advance to Saturday's final.
Carly Pohlman had two hits and two RBIs for Calhoun, while Anabel Eilerman struck out four inside the circle.
The Warriors are now 15-13. and advance to Friday's final against Raymond Lincolnwood, an 8-2 winner over the host Spartans, Saturday at 10 a.m. The Lancers are now 14-11, while the Rams finish up at 9-11, and North Green ends its season 8-20.
In the Greenfield Northwestern Regional, the host Tigers eliminated Nokomis 11-10, and move on to the final on Saturday morning against Carrollton at 10 a.m. Greenfield is now 12-16, while the Redskins were knocked out at 6-18.
In the semifinals at Marissa-Coulterville, the host Meteors eliminated Carlyle 6-1, while Sparta defeated Odin 12-0. Marissa-Coulterville is now 11-8, while the Bulldogs go to 17-8, and meet each other in the final on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The Indians end their season at 9-14, while the Eagles finish up at 12-13.
In the Okawville regional, the host Rockets won over Waterloo Gibault Catholic 12-2, while Dupo took an 8-5 decision over Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran. Okawville is now 18-6, with the Tigers improving to 12-11, and will meet for the title Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. The Hawks end the season at 11-12, while the Stallions end up at 11-7.
CLASS 2A
BUFFALO TRI-CITY 16, CARLINVILLE 0: In the Tri-City semifinals, the hosts scored 11 runs in the first, two in the second, and three more in the third to eliminate Carlinville.
McKenna Edwards, Avery Troutwine, and Payton Harding had the three hits for the Cavaliers, while Molly Carriker struck out three in the circle.
The Tornadoes are now 9-4, and go against Gillespie in the final Saturday at 11 a.m. Carlinville ends its season 7-21.
COLUMBIA 1, EAST ALTON-WOOD RIVER 0: In the semifinals at Freeburg, Columbia scored the only run of the game in the top of the second, and it held up to eliminate EAWR.
Both Josslyn Snively and Ellie Beechum had two hits for the Oilers, while Beechum also struck out seven in the circle.
The Eagles are now 22-8, and play the host Midgets, who won over Belleville Althoff Catholic 11-0, in the final Friday afternoon at 4:30 pm. Freeburg is now now 22-7, EAWR ends the season 6-19, and the Crusaders bow out at 4-12.

PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 3, ROXANA 2: Roxana scored twice to go ahead in the first inning, but Southwestern tied it in the fourth with two runs of their own, then scored once in the top of the seventh to pull out the win and eliminate Roxana.
Josie Hagen had three hits and an RBI for the Piasa Birds, while Hannah Mary went all the way in the circle, fanning five. Madison John had a hit and both RBIs for the Shells, while Kassidy Schuyler had one strikeout in the circle.
Southwestern is now 18-10. and play Red Bud, who won over the host Warriors 4-0, in the final Thursday at 4 p.m. The Musketeers are now 27-8, while Roxana winds up its season at 14-11, and Wesclin concludes at 6-24.
In the Flora regional, Nashville defeated Breese Central 9-5, while the host Wolves defeated Breese Mater Dei Catholic 4-1. The Hornets are now 25-10, with Flora now 18-9, and both will meet each other in the final on Friday at 3 p.m. The Cougars finish up at 17-15, while the Knights end up at 11-17.
At Vandalia, Greenville eliminated Staunton 6-0. The Comets are now 27-6, and play against Olney Richland County in the final on Friday at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs wind up their season at 14-11.
CLASS 3A
TRIAD 9, HIGHLAND 1: In the semifinals at the Highland regional, Triad and Highland traded runs in the first, then the Knights scored four runs in the third and twice more in both the fifth and sixth to eliminate the Bulldogs.
Abby Harper had three hits and four RBIs for Triad, and also struck out 10 in going all the way in the circle.
Triad is now 23-11, while Highland concludes at 3-22.

JERSEY 9, MATTOON 4: In the second semifinal at Highland, Jersey scored three runs in the first, two runs in the fourth and sixth, along with one in the fifth to eliminate Mattoon.
Jena Pegram had two hits and an RBI for the Panthers, while Paxton Weirich fanned nine in the circle.
Jersey is now 18-10, and will take on Triad in the final on Thursday at 4 p.m. The Greenwave completes its season 10-14.
In a semifinal at Marion, Centralia won over East St. Louis 19-0. The Orphan Annies are now 20-5, and meet the host Wildcats, a 7-5 winner over Carbondale, in the final Friday at 4 p.m. The Flyers end their season 1-21.
In the Waterloo Regional, the host Bulldogs defeated Cahokia 13-0, and Mt. Vernon got past Mascoutah 9-5. Waterloo is now 25-3, while the Rams are now 18-8, and will play against each other in the final on Friday at 4 p.m. The Comanches finish the season at 0-17, while the Indians finish up at 20-9.
CLASS 4A
BELLEVILLE WEST 8, ALTON 1: In the second semifinal at Belleville East, West scored twice in both the third and fourth innings, then added on four more runs in the sixth to eliminate Alton.
Gabby Terrell and Kynlie Muscarella had the two hits for the Redbirds, while Muscarella fanned three inside the circle.
The Maroons are now 17-13, and play rivals and the host Lancers in the final on Friday at 4 p.m. The Redbirds finish the season 9-26.
In the second semifinal at O'Fallon, the host Panthers eliminated Springfield 13-1. O'Fallon is now 19-12, and plays in the final against Edwardsville on Friday at 4 p.m. The Senators were eliminated at 10-21.
SOCCER
IHSA PLAYOFFS --- REGIONAL SEMIFINALS
CLASS 1A
In Class 1A regional semifinals played on Wednesday at Freeburg, Waterloo Gibault Catholic won over Mt. Carmel 11-0, and the host Midgets shut out Pinckneyville 9-0.
The Hawks are now 11-7-2, while Freeburg is now 10-8-1, and will meet in Friday's final at 6 p.m. The Aces were eliminated at 0-10-0, while the Panthers finished up at 4-14-1.
CLASS 3A
In the second semifinal of the Collinsville regional, Belleville East defeated the host Kahoks 2-0. The Lancers are now 14-6-1, and face O'Fallon in the final Friday night at 6 p.m. Collinsville ends its season at 12-10-1.
