From 7–11 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, community members are invited to the event at Bluff City Grill for a night of raffles, live music by the Glendale Riders, dancing and camaraderie. Organizers Tina and Wesley explained that the organization aims to raise close to $80,000 to support their 15 local police departments throughout the next year.

“I’m so amazed at what we’ve grown into and what potential we have to grow, but we can’t do that without help from the community and the donations and the sponsors and all this stuff,” Wesley said. “Mustache March was all started when we lost [St. Louis County Police Officer] Blake [Snyder]...To be able to carry his legacy on as long as we can, I’m here for it.”

The Back the Blue event raises money for the MM4PD mission: to support local departments. They often provide equipment and funding to police across the Riverbend region.

MM4PD also sponsors a trip to Washington, D.C., for around 40 officers every May for National Police Week. These officers are nominated by their department and given the “Be Like Blake” award in honor of Snyder.

Alton Officer Allen Averbeck went to D.C. a day early last year for the K9 memorial ceremony in honor of K9 Odin, an Alton officer who was killed in the line of duty in 2024. As K9 Odin’s handler, Averbeck found that the trip was healing as he spoke to other grieving families and officers.

“It’s a stark reminder when you’re seeing the names on the wall. We know. I know, when I put the uniform on, what can happen. But when you see families out there grieving for their loved ones that have been killed, it’s hard and it’s heavy and it weighs,” he shared. “But every single person that was out there is still working, wearing this uniform. It just reminds you of why you want to put it on every day no matter what can happen and what we want to do to keep our communities safe.”

The money raised during the Back the Blue event will allow more officers to attend National Police Week this year as well as provide additional funding to local departments.

Alton’s Deputy Chief Dustin Christner noted that MM4PD and their events remind him that their work is appreciated. He also expressed his gratitude for the “very solid group of officers” in Alton who go above and beyond.

“Those things encourage us to continue doing what we’re doing,” Christner said. “Their encouragement constantly is uplifting, especially when you’ve been doing law enforcement for awhile. It’s my 21st year, so seeing the community’s support is just a huge, uplifting event.”

As they prepare for the Back the Blue event, Tina, Wesley and the rest of the MM4PD team hope to welcome many people for an evening of fun while supporting local police. They encourage people to buy tickets now or reach out about becoming a sponsor. They noted that their work wouldn’t be possible without the community’s support.

“It still amazes me that we have gone from this small little event to a pretty big event. It is incredible. That just shows how police are still supported around this community,” Tina added. “Come out and enjoy and meet some of the officers and meet us. We’d love to share our story.”
