Chalker of the St. Louis Herb Society will discuss the historical uses
of herbs. Our Annual Herb Potluck Luncheon will also be held during t
he meeting.\n\nThe connection between humans and plants for flavor and
medicine dates from the far past\, of which there is ample evidence f
rom various sources: written documents\, preserved monuments\, and eve
n original plant medicines. Today\, people still use herbs in cooking\
, natural wellness supplements\, and modern medicines derived from pla
nt compounds. Are you interested in learning more about the history of
herbs and the various ways they have been used?\n\n The October 2026 
meeting of the Edwardsville Garden Club will feature a presentation by
Bruce Chalker\, from The St. Louis Herb Society. He will give a prese
ntation on the history and uses of herbs.\n\n From the St. Louis Herb 
Society website: "The mission of The St. Louis Herb Society is to furt
her the study\, use and knowledge of herbs. We pursue our mission by w
orking in partnership with horticultural staff at the Missouri Botanic
al Garden to plan\, plant and maintain the herb garden behind Tower Gr
ove House. Hundreds of visitors pass through the herb garden annually 
to learn about herbs and enjoy its beauty. In addition to working in t
