DESCRIPTION:A second Audubon Mural Project is coming to downtown Alton
thanks to a collaboration with Alton Main Street\, local businessman 
Mike Kelly\, mural artist Robert Fishbone\, and Center Advisory Board 
members Penny Schmidt and Susan Flader. The new mural will focus on bi
rd conservation across the Americas with a spotlight on the Lesser Yel
lowlegs\, a long-distant migrant that winters in South America and nes
ts in northern Canada finding habitat across the U.S. including the St
. Louis Region during its migratory journeys. The new mural is a few d
oors down from the Alton Flyway Mural that was installed in 2023. Toge
ther\, both murals will raise awareness for needed bird conservation w
hile further beautifying Alton!\n\nJoin us October 19th at the Lesser 
Yellowlegs Mural located at 224 Front St. Alton\, IL. This is a change
from the original date on Oct. 18\, due to forecasted storms. We will
have a special unveiling celebration at 4pm\, including site specific
choreography by Erin Lane. Afterwards\, all are welcome for a recepti
on at My Just Desserts\, 31 E Broadway.\n\nThis is a free event\, but 
advance registration is requested so we can prepare for the event and
