Looking for something out of the ordinary to do in June? Did you ever think about visiting a family farm in Edwardsville, IL where you can pick your own Lavender and shop through a vast selection of homemade and handmade lavender products? Well Tenderloin Farms Lavender may be the escape you are looking for.
Depending on weather and the bloom, our Lavender farm's U-Pick should be ready to harvest and be enjoyed by the public on Friday, June 2, 2023. This will be our 3rd year open to the public and we are excited to have you all back. The season should last through 4th of July and we will see both our French and English varieties in bloom during that time period.
A little more about us ... Our family has been farming in this area since 1853. In 2016, we added 1000 lavender bushes of many different varieties to our land. The evolution of our farm has seen many different products starting with potatoes and hay, to selling eggs and milk, then dairy and hogs to now being crops only. Each generation has added and recently, my sister and I are making our claim to change ... we added Lavender to the farm.
We invite the community to the farm to pick their own lavender, learn a bit about growing lavender and its many varieties, wander near our wildflower patches, buy baby lavender plants to plant at your residence, and shop our handmade lavender products in our renovated turn of the century barn. We have tried over thirty different types of lavender on the property and we feel we have finally locked in on the best varieties for the Metro East soil and weather!
Come on over and see what it is all about yourself.
Update: Due to the cool weather conditions, no rain and lack of sun please be aware the bloom is delayed so please watch @Tenderloinfarms for updates.
