Conductor David Drillinger will return to the podium for the final week of the 131st Season of summer Concerts in the Park. WEEK 9 completes the season and is themed SO LONG, FAREWELL featuring the wonderfully talented vocalist Robyn Brandon, now in her 18th season performing with the Alton Municipal Band. Robyn will be performing some favorites, including Cole Porter's “Anything Goes,” “Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man” from the 1927 stage production of Show Boat, and “Get Happy” a song composed by Harold Arlen with lyrics by Ted Koehler, first introduced in 1930.
The Alton Youth Symphony will be on hand this week to help coordinate and lead the children’s parade around the park. They will be looking for an emerging young leader with the courage to step up to the podium and take the baton to conduct the kiddie march. FUN! FREE! Come hang out at the park and go have some fun. You are sure to enjoy some great music.
As we close the concert season we want to recognize the hard work and dedication of all musician members and conductors, most of whom are educators heading back to the classroom in a few weeks, our board members who work tirelessly to ensure great performances, and all supporters and volunteers of the Alton Municipal Band. A special thank you to Lewis and Clark Community College for providing rehearsal space and safekeeping the vast music library of the Alton Municipal Band.
Remember there is no parking on Riverview Drive. Access the park by turning on Bellevue Avenue from State Street.
