Conductor Jennifer Shenberger will take the podium in WEEK 8 of the Alton Municipal Band’s season of Concerts in the Park featuring Prokofiev’s music depicting the story of a young boy who risk’s his own safety to protect his friends. The playful story “Peter and the Wolf” will be narrated by STL TV/Radio personality Heidi Glaus at Riverview Park on Thursday, July 29th at 8 pm.
On Sunday, August 1 8pm at Haskell Park, Clarinetist Sophie Browning will be returning to perform with the full band after being rained out earlier in the season. She is a music educator from St. Louis, MO, an avid chamber musician performing frequently with the Nabla Trio, Gateway to the West Wind Quintet, and the Skware clarinet quartet.
It will be two memorable evenings, one of storytelling the other of musical collaboration.
WEEK 8 is designed for young audiences, the concerts will connect children with the most recognized arrangements written for some of their favorite motion picture and video game soundtracks, including selections from Walt Disney, Captain America, Pixar, Mister Rogers, Bluey, Star Wars, Toy Story, Nintendo, and The Avengers.
FUN, FREE, come dressed as your favorite superhero, or wear a favorite movie t-shirt. Hang out at the park and enjoy listening to some of the best music around.
Mayor David Goins will be atboth concerts to conduct theme song from the superhero motion picture "The Avengers". For AMB fans and new comers alike, it will be an extraordinary team performance.
