About this event

Kick off the eagle season at the highly-anticipated annual Alton Audubon Eagle Ice Festival Saturday, Jan. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.!

This free, family-friendly event takes place in the Alton Visitor Center parking lot at 200 Piasa St. in Alton and The Audubon Center at Riverlands

At the Alton Visitor Center you can see a live American bald eagle up close and personal, let the kids enjoy cold weather games including Ice Putt Putt Golf, ice sculptures, Ice Cube Crush and Spin the Wheel to win great prizes! Watch shavings fly as sculptors transform blocks of ice and wood into magnificent pieces of art right before your eyes!

Then, head across the river to the The Audubon Center at Riverlands to enjoy fun learning activities about eagles and nature, view eagles and Trumpeter Swans with the center's viewing scopes and take a shuttle ride to look for eagles. Shuttle tours are $5 per person. Warm up and roast s'mores by the fire pits for a sweet ending to a fun day!

The Eagle Ice Festival activities are free. For more details, call 1-800-258-6645.
