What: A costume contest featuring costumes created by you! When: Star Wars First Friday; Friday, January 5, 2018 Where: Saint Louis Science Center's CenterStage
How to Enter: Sign up by 8:30pm at the Archon table on the 1st floor of the Science Center’s main building. At 9pm, participate in the contest at Center Stage, on the lower level of the main building. Participants ages 17 and younger will need the permission of a parent or guardian to enter the contest. Prizes: Best Adult DIY Costume 1st place: Archon Membership 2nd place: 8 passes to be used for parking, OMNIMAX, Planetarium, or Discovery Room 3rd place: 4 passes to be used for parking, OMNIMAX, Planetarium, or Discovery Room Best Young Fan DIY Costume: Saint Louis Science Center Membership Rules: 1. The contest can accommodate up to 40 entries. 2. Adult entrants (ages 18 and up) must have made or assembled the parts of their costumes by themselves. No commissioned or store bought costumes will be allowed to compete. 3. Young Fan entrants (ages 17 and under) may have help making or assembling parts of their costumes by parents or other adults. No commissioned or store bought costumes will be allowed to compete. 4. Judges will view the costumes as they appear on stage in front of a live audience, with no pre-judging before the 9pm competition. 5. A Master of Ceremonies will narrate the contest. Entrants will take turns briefly crossing the stage and showing off their costumes to the judges and the live audience. No scenery or props, other than handheld items, will be allowed on stage. No special lighting or sound cues will be available and entrants will not use the microphone. 6. Prizes will be given out at the end of the contest after the judges have made their decision. Winners must be present to claim their prize. 7. Entrants in Star Wars Mini Masquerade must abide by rules of conduct and safety as established by the Saint Louis Science Center. We ask that your costume not interfere with your safety or the safety of others. You may use face paint and partial face-masks. We ask that you carry any full-face masks or helmets while entering and when you are walking through the Science Center. You may wear your headgear while being photographed. Weapons as part of costumes are subject to the approval of Saint Louis Science Center Security. No firearms or illegal weapons are allowed and if the weapon has a blade, you must have a covering for it. Contestants who do not follow the rules of the contest will be disqualified and may be asked to leave.
