The arts and issues season continues into 2018 with Dr. Guion “Guy” Bluford, Jr. and The Future of the Space Program and International Space Station.”

Dr. Guion “Guy” Bluford, Jr., a retired Colonel with the USAF, was the first African American to fly in space in 1983. He was also the first African American to be awarded NASA’s coveted Astronaut Pin and the U.S. Air Force’s Command Pilot Astronaut Wings.
Dr. Bluford was inducted into the International Space Hall of Fame in 1997 and the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame in 2010.
Bluford received his doctor of philosophy degree in aerospace engineering with a minor in laser physics from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 1978.
