Multiple sources are reporting the XFL is suspending operations. The startup football league played five games before the coronavirus pandemic halted play. There has been no official statement yet from the league.

According to ESPN, the league has laid off nearly all of its staff, with league officials saying they have no plans to return. The league was founded by wrestling entrepreneur Vince McMahon, owner of the WWE. The XFL St. Louis franchise, the Battlehawks, finished the abbreviated season with a record of 3-2.
