Week 7 of the prep football season kicked off here on Z-1570 with the Waterloo Bulldogs spoiling homecoming weekend for the Civic Memorial Eagles in Bethalto. Dylan Mueller gave the Eagles an early lead but Waterloo fought back and made it a 7-6 ball game by halftime. The Bulldogs started the scoring in the second half, using a field goal to take 9-7 lead. But Mueller's work wasn't done as he managed to find the end zone again in the 3rd quarter.

Mueller's second score put the Eagles back on top, but Waterloo would have the last laugh as quarterback Arik Bueltman moved the Bulldogs down the field and into the endzone, giving them a 16-15 lead late in the fourth. C.M. would have one last possession to try to win the game, but the Bulldogs held their ground and went on to win 16-15. C.M. drops to 1-3 in the MVC and 2-5 overall. They will host Triad next week in their final home game of the season
Elsewhere, the Alton Redbirds were manhandled by the Belleville West Maroons. Antoine Davis started the scoring early for the home team, as their opening touchdown drive took only three plays.
Davis would find the end zone again before the end of the first quarter as the Maroons jumped out to a 13-0 lead. Alton cut the lead in half early in the second quarter, but Belleville West reasserted their dominance not soon after, building their lead to 26-7 by the end of the half. Neither team scored in the second half and the Maroons won the game 26-7. Alton drops to 1-4 in the SWC and1-6 overall. They will continue conference play next week againt Granite City.
In other prep football action, Michael Ford, Kareem Hamilton, and Brandon Kizer each scored a pair of touchdowns and Jack Miller added another to lead the Marquette Explorers to a 47-14 victory over Decatur Lutheran at Public School Stadium in Alton. Ford and Kizer each rushed for over 100 yards. Marquette improves to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the Prairie State Conference. Decatur Lutheran falls to 1-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference. With the win, the Explorers have clinched a playoff spot. They host Bunker Hill next Saturday night in their final home game of the season.
Elsewhere in prep football action, East Alton-Wood River topped Red Bud 27-6 and Roxana beat Gillespie 47-34.
