The Southwestern Conference golf tournaments were held Tuesday in Wood River and Belleville.
The boys tourney was held at Belk Park golf course in Wood River:
Edwardsville won the team title there. The Tigers had a team score of 297. Belleville West grabbed second with a 307. The Alton Redbirds were third at 311. Collinsville and Belleville East rounded out the top-5.
Alton’s Joe Schwartz (medalist) shot a 5-under par 67 at Belk Park.
Meanwhile at the SWC girls golf tourney at Clinton Hills Golf Course in Belleville:
The Alton Lady Redbirds won their first ever Southwestern Conference team title with a 351 team score – four strokes better than Edwardsville (354). O’Fallon, Belleville East and Belleville West rounded out the top five.
Alton junior Tori Hays (medalist) shot a 4-over par 75.
* Hays shot a 36 on the front nine and a 39 on the back nine.
Edwardsville’s Emilee Flaugher finished second with a 78. Alton’s Natalie Long was third with an 86. Courtney Hachmann finished fourth with an 88.
At the South Central Conference girls golf tournament – the Roxana Lady Shells won the team title Tuesday at the Litchfield Country Club. Pana finished second followed by Staunton and Greenville.
The MVC girls golf tournament tees off today (Wednesday) – 9 am at Belk Park in Wood River.
