Class 2A Baseball regionals – Monday

Roxana won at Metro East, 4-1.  Logan Reardon pitched a 3-hitter and struck out 14.  Nelson Martz was the scheduled starting pitcher – but was injured in the top of the first inning when he fouled a ball off of his leg.  Reardon went the distance throwing 110 pitches.

Jordan Briggs broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run home run in the 5th inning.

The Shells will face top-seeded Gillespie tomorrow in the regional semi’s.  Today at the Gillespie regional:  it’s Southwestern against Staunton.  The Staunton Bulldogs eliminated EA/WR, 8-2 on Monday.

Elsewhere in 2A baseball:

The Vandalia – Carlinville game was called after 11 innings due to darkness with the score tied, 2-2.  They will resume play today at Carlinville.


In Class 1A baseball Monday:

Brussels beat Greenfield, 9-4.  Brussels will face North Greene tomorrow in the regional semi’s. 

Nokomis beat Mulberry Grove, 9-2

Winchester blanked Barry, 4-0
