The East Alton-Wood River Oilers will join the Prairie State Conference as full – fledged members (in two years) in the 2014-15 school year.
Decatur Lutheran will leave the conference after this school year – leaving the Prairie State with 6 teams. Nokomis will then jump out of the conference the following year. That’s when the EA/WR Oilers will join the Prairie State Conference.
The Oilers will schedule conference activities over the next two years – but in the major sports – like football, basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball and softball…..the full membership again will take effect in the 2014-15 school year.
So in the fall of 2014 - the Oilers will join Kincaid-South Fork, Mount Olive, Bunker Hill, Metro East, and Marquette in the newly formed PSC.
EA/WR's Adam talks more about the move:
The Oilers and Marquette Explorers were members of the South Central Conference up until last year when they were voted out of the league. Gillespie and Staunton have moved into their spots in the SCC this fall (2012).
