The Marquette Lady Explorers won a regional title last night. (at the class 1A metro East girls basketball regional)
Marquette beat Metro East, 43-29 to improve to 19-9 on the season. Sophomore Abby Porter led the Lady Explorers with 13 points while Anna Morrissey and Jordy Wilson chipped in with 9 points apiece. Emma Snider added 8 for Marquette.
The Explorers led by 5 at halftime (19-14) and then outscored the Knights, 13-4 in the third quarter to pull away.
Metro East finishes the season at 17-8.
Marquette advances to the Class 1A Calhoun Sectional next week where they will face Okawville Tuesday. Okawville won the Marissa regional by beating Marissa last night, 40-32.
Monday night at the Calhoun Sectional (semi’s) – host Calhoun will go up against Jacksonville Routt. Calhoun beat Carrollton last night, 45-42 and Routt got by Winchester, 55-47.
