Marion eliminated Marquette Wednesday night in the Class 3A Highland sectional semi-finals. The final – 58-39 in favor of the Wildcats.
Marion used a 20-8 second quarter to take a 16-point lead into halftime (34-18).
The Wildcats hit 9 three-pointers in the win – led by junior point guard Moe Jackson who hit 5-treys and hit for a game-high 19 points.
Marion hit 9-3’s // Marquette hit just 2-3’s (the explorers outscored from the three-point line, 27-6).
Marquette was led by senior Deion Lavender who scored a team high 18 points. The Explorers finish the year at 22-and-7.
Marion improved to 16-14 and they advance to Friday night’s 3A Highland sectional title game against Cahokia. (Marion and Cahokia split their two regular season games this year with both teams winning on its home floors)
