The Illinois Fighting Illini kicked off Homecoming weekend festivities by earning their first Big Ten win of the season on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. You heard the action on the Big Z as a tough defensive effort led the Illini to a 28-24 win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Illinois forced three turnovers, including a fumble in the final moments to seal the victory. Riley O'Toole threw for 188 yards and one touchdown and added another score on the ground to pace the Illini offense.
The Illini improve to 4-and-4 overall and 1-and-3 in the Big Ten. Minnesota falls to 3-and-1 in the conference and 6-and-2 overall.
The Illini hit the road to face Ohio State next Saturday in Columbus, OH.
