Iowa defeated Illinois in round one of the B1G Tournament, 96-87 Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden in New York. 


Kipper Nichols had a career high 31 points for the Fighting Illini in a losing cause.  Michael Finke & Trent Frazier scored 13 points apiece.  Te'Jon Lucas chipped in with 12. 


Iowa sophomore Jordan Bohannon had 25 points in the win. 


Illinois ends the season at 14-and-18. 

Iowa (14-18) will advance to round two tomorrow (Thursday) to play Michigan in the B1G Tourney.
