The Marquette Lady Explorers open the post season with a softball victory Tuesday at the Class 2A Columbia Regional. Marquette improved to 32-and-2 with a 10-0 five-inning win over Freeburg. Alexis Silkwood threw the five inning perfect game. It was her 18th no-hitter of the season and her 8th perfect game of the spring.
Marquette got two rbi’s each from Claire Morrissey, Bailey McAfee, and Maddie Youngblood.
The Lady Explorers scored 9 runs in the 3rd inning and will now advance to the regional title game Saturday at 11 am against the winner of Wednesday’s game between host Columbia and Roxana.
